In the last edition of Community Firsts' Newsline Village Hall Advisor Rob Grunsell suggested a standardised format for all village halls in Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Below is a walkthrough with screen shots explaining how to redirect village hall email to the most appropriate email address.

When committee members leave a village hall they rarely tell us that they are no longer the contact. This means you no longer receive relevant information and we lose a your contact information. This system will allow you to go into your new account and simple redirect the village hall email address to the most appropriate person meaning you don't need to change your email address.

Please note, since several of you have had problems doing this via a Yahoo account, therefore the instructions below are for much simplier set up using Google Mail.

How to set up an email address

Step 1. Set up a new account.

1.  To get started click the following link:  https://www.google.com/.......

2.   Then go to "Sign Up to google mail"

3.   It will then take you through the sign up form. The third question asks you for you "desired login name" this will form your email address. If we use the same agreed format as before this will be examplevillagehall@googlemail.com

Step 2. Redirecting you mail.

4.      Once you have signed up go to "Settings" on the top tool bar next to your email address.

5.      Then click on the tab "Forwarding and POP"

6.      Assign the option "forward copy of incoming email to" and then put your personal email address into the box. This will then send a copy of the email sent to your personal account each time someone emails your village hall account.

Step 3. Contact Us and let us know!

If you do use this facility please let us know. We want to keep all the village halls informed about the sector, funding opportunities and success stories from other halls. The only way to do this efficiently is through electronic services so please give us your new email addresses!
